Patent Administration Agreement with Schott AG

Transense and Schott AG ('Schott'), of Mainz, Germany, have signed a Patent Administration Agreement concerning jointly developed intellectual property for the packaging of Transense's patented Surface Acoustic Wave ('SAW') torque sensors. Under the terms of the agreement, Schott has exclusive rights to manufacture the packages that are the subject of the invention and Transense will receive a royalty on every package sold. The filed patent should lead to improvements in the performance of torque sensors, and also to facilitate the volume production of the packaged sensors. Schott are already approved suppliers to another of Transense's licensees, Honeywell, and Honeywell has made public its intention to start volume production of SAW torque sensors in 2008.

Jim Perry, Transense's C.E.O. said: 'Schott, a world leader in electronic component packaging and part of the Carl-Zeiss Foundation, is a Euro 2.23 billion turnover business with operations around the world and 16,800 employees. We have been working together for several years now and it is a pleasure to have such a professional team of packaging experts helping us prepare our technology for volume production. I am delighted that we have signed this agreement, and Transense is looking forward to continuing close collaboration with Schott for
the development of packaged sensors for a variety of additional applications, such as in-body medical sensors.'

Thomas Pfeiffer, Executive Vice President Automotive of Schott Electronic Packaging GmbH, said: 'We have worked with Transense over the last few years on different solutions, for the packaging of Transense's patented SAW technology which has led to the invention for the packaging of the Transense torque sensor. We are very pleased to sign the Patent Administration Agreement with Transense to further support the launch of the torque sensor with our expertise in electronic packaging and high volume production for the automotive industry. We are looking forward to continuing our very good working relationship with Transense on future challenges.'
